Aerobytes Partners with Jon Hunt – The Flying Reporter
We are proud to announce a new collaboration between Aerobytes, a leader in Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) solutions, and Jon Hunt, the UK’s most recognised General Aviation YouTuber, better known as The Flying Reporter.
Jon is a former BBC TV news presenter who qualified as a private pilot in 2013. He now combines his media talents with his love of flying by recording his aviation endeavours and sharing them with a loyal following of General Aviation fans.
“We Met at the Aerobility Ball in 2024…”
Jon first heard of Aerobytes at the Aerobility Ball, an annual fundraiser for the charity that gives people with disabilities the chance to fly. That year, Jon helped raise over £8,000 for Aerobility and was nominated for a fundraising award.
“Eddie [Forrester, Aerobytes MD] told me he was a fan of the channel, particularly its contribution to flight safety. Eddie has a love of almost everything that flies, he is also a proud supporter of the Aerobility Charity.
Like Aerobytes, I value the fundamental qualities of fairness, honesty and integrity, with so much in common between us, it was only natural for us to see how we might work together.”
A Shared Passion for Aviation & Flight Safety
The Flying Reporter YouTube channel aims to inspire more people to get involved in General Aviation and to promote flight safety through frank observations and fully accountable self-reflection.
Jon’s signature phrase “Fly safely, my friends” is more than a sign-off. It’s a sincere message and his videos are not just entertaining travelogues—they’re honest self-debriefs, exposing both triumphs and mistakes.
“I share my flying warts and all. We all make mistakes, but most don’t broadcast them. I do, because I want to learn, improve, and help others do the same.”
Where Will the Aerobytes Logo Be Flying Next?
Jon is currently preparing for one of General Aviation’s most difficult challenges crossing the Atlantic in a single-engine 1977 PA28 Turbo Arrow. While the journey is still in the planning stages, he has already completed long-haul flights across France, Spain, and Germany as part of his preparation.
“Right now, I’m working towards my Instrument Rating, upgrading the avionics, and building endurance. The Aerobytes logo may be turning heads at a lot of European airfields in the months ahead!”
Why Aerobility Matters to Us Both
Both Jon and Aerobytes are proud supporters of Aerobility, the charity that opens the skies to people with disabilities.
“I discovered that for Aerobility’s clients, the therapeutic value and sense of freedom was like nothing else on earth. In the sky, behind the controls of their aircraft, they are limitless—defined not by disability, but by opportunity.”
Coming Soon: Cameras, Cockpits & Conversations
Jon will soon be taking Eddie & Emma Forrester for a flight – with cameras rolling. Expect insightful conversations about FDM, aviation safety, and the realities of flying, including the theory, science, mathematics, and the never-ending pursuit of personal improvement.
Why This Partnership Matters
This collaboration is about more than logos on wings. It’s about shared values, storytelling, and meaningful progress. It’s about showing what can be achieved with a pilot’s licence and how data, reflection, and honesty can help us all become better, safer aviators.
“I like to take a professional approach to my flying, assessing hazards, mitigating risks, and making safe, sound, yet practical decisions. When I get it wrong, I say so – publicly, on YouTube – for all to see and learn from.”
